Abortion

in choice, with an ultimate goal of zero.

I think most of us agree that near-zero would be a good goal.

I feel very strongly that this is about as close to murder as one can get without actually calling it that. However, I am completely against an outright ban. There are compromises that can be made to make just about everyone happy with the system. For instance, the thought of someone using abortion as their choice of birth control makes me ill. But everyone should be allowed, and forgiven, at least one mistake. We all have to learn, and sometimes it’s the hard way. Free and accessible birth control is one method that can reduce these numbers dramatically.

The abortion rate in the US is about 1%. That’s roughly one abortion per one hundred women, once a year. That’s well within the failure rate of birth control. And this is not a decision that women take lightly. It is gut-wrenching. It is painful. It is their decision to make.

Of significant note here, is an extraordinary male birth control available in India. It’s called RISUG. One simple quick office visit, one shot (well, two actually), and you’re done. For ten years! No side effects. No difference in sensation, pleasure, anything. 100 percent safe. And, it’s easily reversible at any time. And then you can do it again if you want. It’s not available in the USA because it’s too damn cheap and easy. No money to be made here. The drug companies are fighting to keep this wonderful development out. Personally, I think it would make a great “right-of-passage” for when our boys turn 16. And it would quickly give us our near-zero goal!

The government has begun playing doctor, by banning individual types of procedures. This is wrong. Doctors must be free to choose the from the best options available for the situation of the patient.

Just to be perfectly clear: I will make this problem go away by addressing the root cause, directly. This should make both sides of this issue very happy. You can still have the choice, but you won’t need to use it. That’s the point.
