in friendship, not antagonism.
The United States has been the “bully” for so long now, that we have alienated almost the entire rest of the planet. We have no friends anymore. It’s absurd.
My Foreign policy is to entice and encourage.
Punishment and ramming things down other people’s throats doesn’t work. Look at Chavez. Is he so wrong to hate us? We just give him reason to exist. We really do nasty things to other countries. Iran is another example. There’s a real nut-case, elected solely because we gave his people reason to hate us, and he voiced that opinion and capitalized on it. We put him in office.
In general, my Trade Policy will force wage increases in countries which trade with us. This results in a happier, wealthier population. In turn, that results in more access to the web, better education and so forth. Finally, that combination pushes the populace towards Democracy and peace. Go figure. Something as simple as a protectionist trade policy can have such a huge effect on the world. Amazing, eh?
The opposite is true too. Free trade has dropped wages here and abroad, causing more discontent, causing more and more people to turn to socialism, religious fanaticism, and dictatorship. Just look at the stress on our own population here in the USA. That feeling has gone global.
Middle East: My policies have been reviewed and approved by world-renowned Professor Waris Shere, highly respected author of several major books and over forty publications on the prospects for peace with the Middle East. We both believe it can be accomplished. We have a viable plan of action. NO other candidate from ANY other party can say that.
China: Is addressed on a number of pages. I do, admittedly, knock them pretty hard in a few places, but they have my utmost respect. They’re playing the game better than we are.
Iran: I will support the growing Moderate movement. I will support sanctions against their nuclear development unless they allow extensive monitoring. The world doesn’t need more extremists with Nukes.
Russia: I used to like Putin. Personally, I like Russia. Loved St. Petersburg when I was there. We need to do something about the political killings though. That’s just wrong and should not go un-punished.
Cuba: Why do we still hate Cuba? I would like to restore and expand relations here.
Australia: A good solid moderate country.
England: An eternal ally. Quickly becoming a Nanny State and losing their individual freedoms. Their politics is almost as screwed-up as ours.
Central Europe / EU: Again, allies. We could learn some lessons in what these governments have done for their people: Health Care, decent wages, decent retirement, nice long vacations, extensive maternity leave, better access to new drugs, environmentally conscious... We need to catch up with what these folks have already done. We’re already behind in technology.
Mexico: Needs to be left alone for a while. We need to quit screwing with their government.
South America: I would like to restore relations here. We have alienated so many of these countries. Our anti-drug policies have wreaked havoc on their political systems and economies. By fighting the drug wars there, we have simply made the dealers and growers richer and more powerful. Let the growers grow, and the dealers deal, and then the prices drop like a rock, and the power they have disappears. It’s our problem, not theirs.
Africa: Most of these countries are so poor, and so corrupted, that it just boggles the mind. I will continue, and perhaps expand some of the aid programs, but this will not solve the problems. The real work is in finding some decent leaders. And then getting them into place to fix their governments. There really is no reason for them to be so poor and desperate. Their leadership is just so incredibly bad.
Canada: No problems here that I’m aware of, eh?
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria: I will support the moderate movements, and find ways to encourage social and economic development. Meaning, that most of these people are still living in the dark ages, and need to see that there is an entire world out there filled with all sorts of different people. What makes these countries, and most of the Middle East, so dangerous is their oil wealth. That, coupled with the fact that none of that wealth trickles down to the population. The result is power, plus fanaticism and extremism. Very dangerous combination. This needs to be diffused by enlightening the leadership and the populations.
Japan: Another good ally. No problems here that I’m aware of.
North Korea: We really need to find out what they want and how to calm them down. Why the million-man army? That alone will collapse their economy. It already has. How can we help, so that those men can go back to feeding their families? Why do they even want nuclear power, when they have China to the north as an ally? There is no point in them having this tremendous economic drain either.
The UN: We pay most of their operating budget. Why? They are primarily a superfluous entity, which could easily be replaced by a few phone calls between nations and diplomats. I will take a big bite out of this budget, but will encourage it’s continuation as an alternate means of communications anyway.
Israel: You’ve got to admire these people. There are a veritable plethora of fanatics over there, with plenty to be fanatic about, and yet, the moderates appear to have everything reasonably under control. And they’re trying for peace. Keep at it guys. It’s hard work. I’ll try to help.
Palestine: Total, complete, and utter failure of leadership. The loonies are in control. This is what happens to a country when leadership gets into the hands of the fanatics. There is absolutely no reason for it. I was hoping that once Arafat was gone that there would have been progress. But no, just more hate. We need to help them find some decent leaders.
Sudan, Zimbabwe, most of Africa: Clear examples of leadership failure.
In General: There are either leadership failures, or policy failures. The policy failures are easily corrected. The leadership failures have to be dealt with on a more long-term basis. It’s not easy finding good people.
Foreign Aid: I will not supply cash to anyone we help. That just breeds and encourages corruption. All aid will be in the form of goods and services.
I will bring peace to the entire Middle East.
Terrorism will be eradicated, permanently.
