Media

it’s all your fault...

Yes indeed. The sorry state of this country, and the world, is entirely the fault of the Media. It is high time they owned up to that fact and did something about it.

Freedom of the Press is fine, but not when it comes to electing government officials. There need to be laws enforcing equal coverage. I’ll tell you why...

Guiliani drops his fork at dinner, and gets a story. Hillary snarls at Obama, and gets a story. Obama smiles, and gets a story. All the top GOP/DEM candidates doing anything at all, no matter how inane or irrelevant, get a story. Every time. Why?

The media has decided that whoever has the most money will be the next President. Yup. That’s how our President is decided. Money talks. Loudly. The Media, having already decided that the most money will win (buy) the Presidency, does not bother to cover anyone else. This means, to be a viable third party candidate, you pretty much have to be a billionaire. The Media has already decided. Why?

It’s a matter of how the human brain works... but basically all comes down to name recognition. If you hear a name often enough, you assume that person is popular. Under that assumption, you believe then that there must be a reason for it, and you vote for them without even investigating on your own. You trust that the Media, or someone, would have done their homework and certainly wouldn’t allow someone horrible into office. In fact, it doesn’t matter what that person does at all, as long as it is over 90 days before the election. Doing something outrageously stupid, and getting one’s name splattered all over the headlines, is actually a good thing. You, the public, in less than 90 days, will forget what was done... but you will remember the name. Money helps buy air time too, which is the safer and more acceptable route to name recognition. Thus, money buys the Presidency.

Money, as we know, is most easily gotten through wheeling and dealing without actual concern for the public. Business provides at least 10 times the campaign money that individuals do. And you wonder why your elected officials don’t represent you...

So, business provides money. Media follows the money. The most Media equals the most name recognition. Name recognition equals the Presidency. Fairly simple, actually. Our highest office is up for sale. That’s just not right.

I say it is all the Media’s fault, the sorry state of this country, because the Media already knows this, and they just perpetuate the misery by continuing coverage of all the wrong people. What the Media needs to do, is to throw “follow the money” out the window, do their homework, find a few decent candidates that they believe might actually be good for our country, and then push them. We all know none of the GOP/DEM candidates meet this requirement. So drop them already.

GOP = DEM = Corruption Machine.
